Hall of Fail: Michael Vick May Have Just Ruined His Second Chance At The NFL.

Michael Vick was supposed to be on the road to recovery, he was supposed to be a changed man. By now everyone knows about his dog fighting conviction and subsequent jail time served as a result of that conviction. It has also been well chronicled about the 100’s of millions he flushed down the toilet by participating in dog fighting.
Michael Vick is a man who lost everything for a very stupid reason, but Vick is no different than 100’s of other famous people who have committed crimes and gotten caught. When Vick was released last year, and I watched the interviews with him it seemed like he was a person who had learned his lesson, and when Tony Dungy signed on to be his “mentor” I was convinced that Vick would stay out of
trouble.
He went through the season last year with the Eagles playing sparingly, but displaying a few highlight moments that he is known for. In the offseason the Eagles traded Donovan McNabb, and named Kevin Kolb the starter with Michael Vick solidly the backup with a chance for increased playing time. Everything seemed to be on the up and up for Vick, and his detractors were slowly fading into silence.
That was up until last week when Michael Vick was in the vicinity of a shooting after his 30th birthday party celebration in Virginia Beach. Vick of course denies any involvement in the shooting, and was quoted as saying, “I want to assure everyone that I had nothing to do with that incident, I left the restaurant prior to it occurring and did not witness what happened.” (www.abcnews.com)
I do not believe Vick shot the person in question, but it would be easy to assume that he had some knowledge of why it happened. Vick left the club, and less than 10 minutes later down the street a man is shot. That is not why it seems like Vick is involved, the fact that it his high school team and dog fighting co-defendant Quanis Phillips who was the victim. As a condition of Vick’s probation he is not allowed to consort with known felons, and Phillips is of course a felon.
Who knows what really happened, but either way it was a dumb decision by Vick to be anywhere near there. On top of that why have a party that gets promoted on Facebook, Twitter, and just about every other social network that is out there? Vick should have learned his lesson before about trying to be in the limelight and throw parties, if you invite anyone to come who knows what type of element will show up there.
Because of this decision Vick is risking losing the $5 million dollars the Philadelphia Eagles are slated to pay him for the upcoming
season. The Eagles are considering cutting Vick, and if that happens not only will he lose the money, but he will probably lose any chance he has of ever playing in the NFL again. Not many people have screwed up a golden opportunity twice, but that seems like what Michael Vick is on the verge of doing.
The sheer stupidity of this is inexcusable, and the need to throw parties and invite the entire city is only reserved for small time people. You don’t see Denzel Washington or Tom Brady throwing parties and inviting everyone on Facebook? Vick started believing his own hype again, and started to get that sense of invincibility back. Well that was a big mistake, with the amount of money he owes to creditors losing that $5 million would be a blow he might not recover from. Maybe Michael Vick learns from his mistakes, and maybe someday he will regain respect, but for now welcome to the Hall!

It’s simple I get on people when they do things wrong, and I am sorry to say for all the people that have killed, robbed, snorted and sold drugs, and even beat the snot out of their wives and children; the mob came out in full force over “dog fighting”. That has been a part of this country for centuries along with “cock fighting”, it’s all BS. Vick has wasted a lot of his talent, he could have been great. But I guess when you drink your own Kool-Aid too much it starts to blind you.
