What is wrong with Tiger Woods? Has his anger gotten the best of him?

Tiger Woods is still the best golfer in the world, and I say that despite his poor showing this past weekend where he finished 78^th place.  Yes Tiger has won the Firestone PGA Tour event seven times in the past; he normally kills this golf course like no one else.  This past week it was much different, after his horrible performance Woods, commented that finishing 18 over par was not fun.  I somewhat laugh at the reporter’s questions, Woods was asked what does he need to work on.  Tiger replied, I need to putt better, hit the ball better, and just play better in general.  What did the reporter think he was going to say, the man just played probably the worst golf of his life.

Everyone is ready to write off Tiger Woods, but at this point I think he is right on track.  Let me explain, before when Tiger was the unstoppable force in golf he had his family at most of his tournaments, so it was quite easy for him to spend time with them.  Now he has gone through a very public scandal that has ended in a divorce from his wife which is going to cost him over $100 million dollars.  Any man in that situation is going to have trouble doing his job at the same level he did before all of his private business was made public.

The other part of this is that his soon to be ex-wife is probably going to file for custody of their children and take them back to Sweden with her, Tiger said in his interview after the tournament he has not had time to practice because he has been spending time with his kids.  Which is what he should be doing, she is more than likely going to take the kids out of the country, and he will only be able to see them around his golf schedule.

With all of this business going on, and a man trying to spend a ton of time with his kids before they leave with his ex-wife for another country, of course he is not going to be playing golf all that well.  It is actually surprising that he is out there playing golf at all, who can actually focus on much of anything with all of that going on.  He confides in the sex rehab clinic that he had sex with over 120 women, and it makes it out to the public for everyone to ogle at.

Golf fans should not expect Tiger Woods to win a tournament until at least sometime next year, once the divorce is finalized and he is in a regular routine with the visitation and relationship with his children.  No one needs to feel sorry for Tiger; it is a tough situation that many people go through.  I think from the beginning he did not want to be married, but he knew the public wants to see famous people living in a nuclear family.

I have heard people on the radio and television say stupid things like Tiger is not playing well because he got his power from “slaying” all of those women, and without the sex he can’t play.  Another person had the take that Tiger is angry at people for asking him questions about his personal life, and until he gets over that he won’t ever play good.  These are stupid theories Athletes always get pissed at the media for asking nosey questions about their personal lives, and Tiger is no different.  As for the sex theory Tiger was good at golf well before he was having sex with hundreds of women, so that theory holds no water.

At some point the media will move past the Tiger Woods story, but unfortunately for him it will not be until he wins a tournament.  He is right on track with where he needs to be, he is not practicing all that much so the expectation should be low for him right now.  He will get back on track at some point, so all the Tiger Woods fans should be patient he will come around.
