Tim Tebow has started to get a dose of his new reality, back in Gainesville he was a legend and could do no wrong. People drank the Tim Tebow Kool-Aid, so even though he was not living with his parents he was in a very comfortable environment where people hardly questioned him. But ever since his last game the questions about his throwing motion, and other parts of his approach to the game have been scrutinized.
Tim Tebow has a habit of openly expressing his religious beliefs which could potentially rub folks the wrong way, especially in a locker room of grown men who choose to keep their beliefs to themselves, who don’t share his beliefs at all, and/or who only want to hear “God bless” after they have sneezed.
It seems Tebow already has gotten a taste of the resistance he might face at the next level. At the Scouting Combine before taking the Wonderlic test, there are some brief instructions and comments from the person administering the test. The rumor is, after the person administering the test to Tebow’s group had finished, Tebow made a request that the players bow their heads in prayer before taking the 50-question exam.
Said one of the other players in response: “Shut the f–k up.” Others players in the room then laughed. I personally find this funny as well, not because Tebow was embarrassed, but mostly because someone actually came out and said that to him. The person that told him to “shut the f–k up” has not been identified, although I am sure at some point his name will be known.
This illustrates the type of challenges that could be faced by the team that drafts Tebow, and what Tebow is going to have to adjust to. Personally I think Tim Tebow was in the wrong on this one, and should have prayed to himself if that is what motivates him. I have seen comments from Tebow defenders saying oh the guy that told him to shut up is the bad guy, and NFL GM’s would want to know who the guy is because he doesn’t have character.
Give me a break, I would sign the guy who told Tebow to shut up in a heart beat. Think about it all anyone has heard for the last four or five years is how great Tebow is, how he walks on water, oh what a great person he is. Then you get to the NFL where Tebow is not as heralded as in college and the media finds a way to keep his name in the headlines, oh his throwing motion, look at the commercial he did with his mom during the super bowl!!
If I were a player in the room I might have told him to shut the hell up too, he can not be that naive to think his request would be well received. If so then he has a lot to learn about life, and his sheltered existence will be exposed. I do not think that is the case, Tim Tebow knew what the hell he was doing, trying to make sure he is always the good guy in every situation.
He reminds me of an annoying co-worker, you know the guy. He kisses up to the boss, brings presents in for bosses day. Brings cakes and food on Fridays to share with the entire office, the boss puts him in front of everyone and says why can’t all of you be like him! Everyone hates that guy, and that is what Tebow is getting now, the realization that most players in college football hate him.
You think he is going to go to a team and be leader when he is not even a starter on the team? I am sure he will find some people who agree with his outwardly religious ways on whatever team drafts him, but he is going to have to make sure to respect his teammates views even if they do not believe in god. This can become a distraction if he does not temper himself, with that being said, some teams might embrace those challenges. The final decision will depend largely on the composition of the team, and the personalities of the coach, the G.M., and the owner.

Churchy guys… yawn. I wish I was there to witness this I would be laughing my ass off. Save it for the Wednesday and Sunday prayer meetings Tebow, no-one cares. I’m sure like all bible toters he’s all for burning the homosexuals and running down the infidels. Keep the prayer in your churches, temples or whatever, it’s 2010.
Yeah I have to agree, I hope this young man learns a lesson from this. I would have liked to see the guy dropped the f-bomb on him. I bet he was shocked that everyone was not in agreement, he is a good guy buy man give a break already.
hey u kno wat yall shut up in the story it says tebow needs to respect other ppls religon and belifs but if we need to respect yall veiws yall need to respect ours so yes i wish i was there to stand up for my lord and savious jesus christ who died for siners like us all i hope and pray some day u will see the way tebow stood his ground and became one of if not THE best christian and football player ion ncaa history and learn from him and accept jessus christ as ur lord and saviour as well.
Tyler I am not going to attack you for your religious beliefs, but here is the honest truth I do not care to hear others beliefs unless I am in a church or environment for that. From your post I can see that you are a christian, and proud of being one that is great. But in that case Tim Tebow was pushing his religious beliefs on a room full of people who were getting prepared for a big moment in their life their OWN way. He has no right to do that just like if we were in the same situation I would not have the right to say, let’s all bow our heads while I sacrifice a chicken to my god. You would find it appalling and offensive, and I highly doubt you would bow your head.
You are a bit misguided in your religious teachings, there is not such thing as “THE best christian”. God does not sit up in heaven and root for people to win football games, there are Christians on EVERY team so why would the lord root for Tebow, but root against another person who is just as devout as him? If it goes like that then God must like Mark Ingram better than Tebow, not only did Mark Ingram win the Heisman Trophy, but he also won a national championship. Ingram also thanked the lord for him winning the trophy, yet I have never heard of a situation where Ingram forced his teammates to listen to him talk about religion. Continue to have your beliefs, but remember if you force them on people they won’t listen to you.
Hey Tyler maybe you showed ask god to give you a lesson in the English language. And he will never be considered the best college football player ever by who actually respects and follows the game. So get off your pulpit and stop fucking saying yall, with is actually spelled y’all.
and that should say…Maybe you should have asked god. OOOOOPSSS hahahaha.
im sorry but asking if someone wants to pray isnt forcing anything. if he said “all right we’re going to pray and you have to participate” then thats forceful. if i come up to you in my store and say “do you want to buy this treadmill?” is that forceful? you dont have to buy it. all he wanted to do was pray for strength and he wanted to see if other people did too. forcing someone to keep their religion to themselves is just as bad as forcing religion on others.
“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”
Matthew 6:5
“He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.’” Mark 16:15
STFU and GTFO Abby. Go love your god on your own time. Just like Tebow should be doing, instead of shoving his ignorant religion down our throats.
God knows the heart and only He knows why someone prays where they pray. What’s comical are all these atheists and ‘non-believers’ are the ones in uproar about him praying… why aren’t they in uproar about the latest player arrested for drug abuse or being involved in a murder??? Yet you wonder why this country is heading where it is…not because of the president or someone’s spending habits..it’s because this world is in control of the evil one. 1 john 5:19
