Arizona Cardinals Defensive tackle Darnell Dockett, a second-team All-Pro selection and Pro Bowl starter last season, got into trouble after taking a shower live on the Ustream website to win a $1,000 bet.  He said after the first day of the Cardinals’ voluntary workouts on Tuesday that at first he thought it was a joke but added “obviously it’s not.”

He said he put his team in the news for “things that are not appropriate.”  “It was a joke that I took out of character and it was wrong,” Dockett said. “I’ve got to do better things than that. Even though I didn’t think it was serious at the time, I’ve got to realize that other people may not look at it like that.”  No sh*t sherlock, how did you think people would take it?  If some random guy took a naked shower video on a website then it probably would not be news, but let an NFL player do it and yeah it’s news.

The coaches addressed the situation with Dockett, and he of course apologized to the team for the distraction.  Players need to be aware that Twitter, Facebook, and other social media outlets are just havens for people to lurk and bring to light things they say or do.  Dockett full well knows this fact, he is one of the NFL’s most active users of Twitter. For example, when the St. Louis Rams drafted Sam Bradford at No. 1, Dockett “tweeted” a welcome to the Oklahoma quarterback as “fresh meat.”

He said he would resume using his Twitter account, which went uncharacteristically silent when the shower controversy erupted.  “I’m still going to be me,” Dockett said. “It’s not going to change who I am. It’s not going to change what I do on Twitter. I’m just going to be much smarter and do things for my team for them to look at me as being accountable.”

The shower video notwithstanding, Whisenhunt praised Dockett’s evolution as a team leader.  But, what does it say about your team when one of your team leaders decides to record a video of him showering to win a $1000 bet?  Dockett makes millions of dollars per year, and would have little use for an extra $1000.  Seriously, what does it say about a persons judgment when they willingly take a nude shower video and post it on the internet?  That is a little bit more than bad judgment, what did he think would happen?  So as a result of Dockett’s little nude shower scene we are inducting him into the Hall of Fail with honors, Darnell welcome to the Hall!
