Welcome to a soon to be revamped section of The Sports Session formally known as the Tuesday morning Sports Session, we are working on a new name and should have one soon. The section was changed, so that these updates would not be limited to Tuesday mornings only, now we can give summary updates on any day of the week. Plus the Tuesday morning format worked great for Football since it is mostly played on a few specific days, to cover other sports we need a bit more flexibility. What in the... [Read more]

Jay Cutler stepped up big this week to lead the Bears over the Vikings. The Indianapolis Colts had a great opportunity to make history, but their head coach decided that resting his players to protect them from injury was the best course of action to give the Colts the best chance of reaching the Super Bowl. If you read my previous article on the Indianapolis Colts passing on their opportunity to make history http://www.thesportssession.net/?p=152 then you know my feelings on the subject. It’s... The Dallas Cowboys shocked the NFL by beating the New Orleans Saints 24 – 17 on Saturday night to break the Saints undefeated record. It’s impressive because the Cowboys are are known for their December collapses dominated the game until the fourth quarter when New Orleans made a comeback attempt that fell just short. Tony Romo has been playing well over the last three games, but this is the first one they have managed to actually win. I wouldn’t say this game exposed the... [Read more]

Mark Ingram won the Heisman trophy in the closest voting ever, Toby Gerhart from Stanford was second followed by Colt Mccoy from Texas. I think the most shocking thing was Ingrams reaction when his name was called, I don’t think I have ever seen anyone burst into tears and get choked up to the point where they could barely get their words out. You can tell the award meant a lot to him, and he really valued being the Heisman trophy winner. I felt sorry for Colt Mccoy though his team was... [Read more]

The five finalists for the Heisman Trophy have been selected, the list includes Texas QB Colt McCoy, Florida QB Tim Tebow, Stanford RB Toby Gerhart, Alabama RB Mark Ingram, and Nebraska DT Ndamukong Suh. Colt McCoy was the odds on favorite to win it at the start of the season, but since his stats were not as good this season somehow he fell out of that spot despite his teams undefeated record. Out of that group I think the person that should win it is Ndamukong Suh, he is the most dominant... [Read more]

The Miami Hurricanes dismantled the USF Bulls to temporarily place the Bulls claim to turn Florida’s Big 3 into the Big 4 on hold. The Hurricanes won 31 – 10, and for the most part he game was never in doubt. Miami jumped on the Bulls quickly and by half time had built a 21 – 3 lead on the Bulls, USF did show signs of life in the second half but the Miami defense never let B.J. Daniels get on track to do any damage. George Selvie was ineffective against Miami’s... [Read more]

What has happened to the Dallas Cowboys Offense, the past two weeks have seen them put up two of the most dismal offensive performances in recent memory. They were practically shut out by the Green Bay Packers save a last second TD pass to Roy Williams which avoided the shutout. This week Dallas beat the Washington Redskins 7 – 6 on a last minute touchdown in the fourth quarter, that was more like a baseball score rather than a football game. Dallas has hit a wall offensively the... [Read more]

The Colts vs. The Patriots did not disappoint, somehow Peyton Manning was able to squeak out a 35 – 34 comeback win over the New England Patriots on Sunday night. It was a highlight during a week of bad football in the NFL as there were a lot of dismal games, but Brady and Manning provided an instant classic. The big moment in the game came when Bill Belichick decided to go for a game sealing first down on 4th and 2 from their own 28 yard line, Brady completed a pass to Kevin Faulk... [Read more]

The World Series is over and the Yankees won their 27th world title, now let’s keep all this in perspective most of the “titles” were in the early years of baseball. I give the last 6 or so the most legitimacy out of them all, but congratulations to the Yankees had the highest payroll in baseball and well they should have won. People think I hate the Yankees themselves, but that’s not the case I hate what they represent which is not only everything that is wrong... [Read more]

We are back after an almost 3-week hiatus, I didn’t have swine flu but I was too sick to blog. Also, if you ever plan on starting a website and writing articles make sure you test your mobile blogging tools before you go out of town. The World Series is almost over, we have Game 6 tonight with the Yankees up in the Series 3 – 2. The Phillies have played better overall in this series except in one area, and that’s been in the pitching matcups especially the Bullpen. ... [Read more]
