Four Flaws The Miami Hurricanes Need To Fix in 2010

The Miami Hurricanes are no different than any other team, and could have easily gone through the season last year and ended with only one loss.  There is really only one game anyone can point to where the Hurricanes were out of it early and had no chance to win the game in the fourth quarter.  The team has many flaws just like others, and they will have to overcome these if they want to win the ACC and even have a shot at competing for a National Title. Here are four critical flaws that... [Read more]

The Miami Hurricanes Under NCAA Investigation for Sending Texts To Recruits. Has the NCAA Lost Their Mind?

The NCAA banned college coaches from text-messaging recruit back in 2007 because of the potential cost to a student athlete who did not have an unlimited text messaging plan.  This has become a growing problem because the NCAA was asleep at the switch when text messaging became a primary means of communication in this country.  The Miami Hurricanes have self reported several texting infractions in several sports, Football, Track, and possibly baseball. Personally the fact that a team can be put... [Read more]

Haters Gonna Hate: The 1986 Miami Hurricanes Voted The Most Hated Team In Sports History!

The 25 most hated teams in sports list was recently released.  Many I agreed with and some I did not understand why they were even on the list, then I came to the team ranked at #11 which was the 1990 University of Miami Football team. I obviously was not surprised that Miami was on the list because that is all you ever hear from people who THINK they know about college football. Here is an excerpt of what was written about the 11th most hated team of all time in reference to their Cotton Bowl... [Read more]

The Miami Hurricanes Were Picked To Finish Second in ACC Coastal. Did The Media Get It Right?

There have been many conversations about how the Miami Hurricanes will finish this year, and the lines are fairly well divided.  Hurricane fans are very optimistic about the potential this upcoming season will bring, but of course all the other naysayers seem to doubt what the has been assembled down in Coral Gables. The Atlantic Coast Conference preseason picks were voted on by media members, and they picked the Hurricanes to finish second in the Coastal division.  The Media members of... [Read more]

The 50 Greatest Miami Hurricanes: #48 Carlos Huerta

Carlos Huerta was one of the first true great stories of the Hurricanes’ storied era of dominance in college football.  Huerta is one of the players that one one talks about with regards to the dominant players during the Miami Hurricanes reign over college football.  I personally remember sitting at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee as I watched Huerta put a field goal through the uprights that was the difference in one of those games against Florida State.  He was as much a part... [Read more]

What Miami’s Jacory Harris Needs To Fix For The Hurricanes To Return to Championship Form

Miami quarterback Jacory Harris has brought a winning mentality from his High School program, and you can start to see his influence positively affecting the team. There is still a lot of work to do, and Harris needs to solidly make this “his” team next season at all costs.  Harris is now fully recovered from a thumb injury that plagued him all season last year, the problem was fixed with off season surgery.  Harris is now ready to participate in all practice drills in preparation... [Read more]

Miami Hurricanes Football Head Coach Randy Shannon Signs Four Year Contract Extension With “The U”.

On Wednesday Randy Shannon signed a new four year deal to re-up as the Head Coach of the Miami Hurricanes Football Team.  Many people speculated and debated on whether Shannon deserved an extension or not because although the team has improved every year under his watch, there are still some questions.  This is a good move for the football program, but I believe it was made for bigger reasons than just the X’s and O’s. The terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the most of the... [Read more]

Randy Shannon’s Contract: The 800 lbs. Ibis in the Room!

I just whipped his team, shouldn't I make more money than him? There is an 800 pound Ibis in the room no matter what subject comes up regarding Miami Hurricanes Football.  That would be the contract extension of head coach Randy Shannon, who right now is the 11th highest paid coach in the ACC.  Not to mention that he is not really the 11th highest paid he is tied with the guy in 12th place Frank Spaziani of Boston College. In one of my other articles I talked about how “cheap” Miami can... [Read more]

Miami Hurricanes 2010 Spring Practice: Final Week and Spring Game

The Miami Hurricanes capped off Spring Practice with their annual Spring Game on Saturday at Traz Powell Stadium.  The spring game itself was action packed and had a barrage of big scoring plays; this was a bit unexpected with Jacory Harris not playing. The teams were broken up into the first team defense/second team offense versus the first team offense/second team defense. The FTD/STO team won, 58-53, in a come-from-behind victory. First Team Offense: QB A.J. Highsmith, RB Mike James, FB... [Read more]

Miami Hurricanes Spring Practice Report: Weeks 3 & 4

It is hard to believe the Miami Hurricanes have completed ten or so practices, and already held their first public scrimmage of the spring last Thursday night at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.  The buzz is fairly good, over 3,000 fans showed up for the event, we all wish that number was higher but we will see the turnout for the Spring game before passing judgment. The crowd saw mostly vanilla plays from the Hurricanes offense, and long runs by Lamar Miller and Storm Johnson were the biggest... [Read more]
